lara stone is the awesome, although i’m sick of hearing about how she represents models who aren’t stick thin. i’m sick of hearing about how skinny models are in general. newsflash: models are supposed to make clothes look better by looking beautiful in them. in our culture that means tall and slim. it’s not some kind of ideological decision to have thin models (except for karl lagerfeld, but he’s a pompous ass who happens to make beautiful things), it is simply a smart MARKETING decision.

I love all things Otis Redding, but this song is truly special.
Oh man I am so excited for Big Love to start in January. I love the show cause I can relate to each of the wives at different times, but my favorite by far is Nikki. Her character is so interesting: married off as a child bride, the isolation and responsibility that comes with being part of compound royalty, her cruel ass mother. Sometimes she comes off as a horrible person, but I think she is just lost, and has no happiness, no sense of agency and her own power, so she needs to gain control in as many little things as she can just to have something to hold onto.
